October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Dr. Pradhan is supporting River City Charities in their presentation of the Pink Tie Gala on October 17th, 2015 to support the Susan G Komen Foundation and breast cancer research.  Wear your pink in support!

August is Cataract Awareness Month.  If your vision has blurred and is bothering your daily activities, come in for a complete evaluation.

July is National Dry Eye Awareness Month – Dry eye can occur not only from a lack of tears but from a dysfunctional tear film.  Your tears are made up of three layers (mucous, water and oil).  Evaporation due to your environment, inflammation of the conjunctiva or eyelids as well as systemic causes like autoimmune diseases along with many other causes are the sources of dry eye.  Learn more and talk to us if you think you may benefit from a full diagnostic evaluation and personalized treatment plan.

June 27 – Make sure you are wearing sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB protection! Learn more from the Vision Council about National Sunglasses Day and keep your entire family protected, especially children. Enjoy the summer!

June 2015 – June is Vision Research Month.  Visit the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health to learn more.  Dr. Pradhan especially wants to highlight the “Vision and Aging” program which encourages everyone 50 or older to have a comprehensive eye exam as many eye conditions have no warning signs or symptoms but early detection by your physician can prevent vision loss.

May 2015 – Uveitis (or inflammation in the eye) with visual complications including vision loss found in a doctor who survived the Ebola Virus and was thought to be free of the Ebola Virus.  He did recover with appropriate and aggressive medical treatment. April 2015 – The American Academy of Ophthalmology established the Nepal Eye Care Relief Fund to help rebuild eye care relief services in Nepal after the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015 where 100% of the donations will be sent to organizations providing eye care services.
